    Gene BT_2513 fromBacteroides thetaiotaomicron vpi-5482 encodes the NP_811426 amino acid sequence that belongs to the Fic group (PF02661).

    SCOP classifies 3cuc inside the Fic-like (super)family. The 3cuc structure is structurally similar (Dali Z-scr=20) to the Fic domain of another jcsg structure: 2qc0 (rmsd 2.6 for 223 Ca of 265 aligned, 17% seq id). The putative active site residues include H192 and N198 which are conserved.  The 3cuc structure below shows the sequence conservation and highlights the putative active site around H192.


    Bacterial proteins containing Fic domains have been shown to disrupt host cell processes after being delivered into eukaryotic host cells [Ref]. This disruption involves inhibition of eukaryotic signaling proteins Rho, Rac, and Cdc42 through the covalent addition of adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP), a modification that results in cell rounding and collapse of the actin cytoskeleton [Ref].
