    Protein Summary

    The gene TM0796 from Thermotoga maritima  encodes the NP_228605 protein, a member of the DUF1611 group PF07755.  This domain is found in a number of hypothetical bacterial and archaeal (not eukarya) proteins that are part of the  P-loop containing nucleoside triphosphate hydrolase superfamily (CL0023). A member of this family from Methanococcus maripaludis, with 24% seq. id. to TM0796, is the A subunit of (H+)-transporting two-sector ATPase Q6M063 suggesting a chaperone-like function assisting in the assembly/disassembly or operation of protein complexes. TM0796 genome context analysis indicates a possible funtional link (score 0.88) with TM0006, a muconate cycloisomerase.

    SCOP classifies 2g0t in the alpha/beta class, P-loop containing nucleoside triphosphate hydrolases superfamily, nitrogenase iron protein like family. DALI top hit is with another DUF1611 2obn (Z=36). Next is the nucleotide binding protein 3kb1 (Z=14) and the dethiobiotin synthetase 3fpa (Z=13). A molecule of phosphate per chain is found attached to residues V168, V169, G170, K171 and R172 in 2g0t.
