    Protein Summary

The gene BH1595 from Bacillus halodurans encodes the NP_242461 protein, a putative ethanolamine utilization cobalamin adenosyltransferase (70% sequence identity) PF01923 EC: COG4812 (alternative names: Cob(I)yrinic acid a,c-diamide adenosyltransferase, aquacobalamin adenosyltransferase).

The 2ah6 structure belongs to the class of all alpha proteins and reveals ferritin-like fold SCOP46456 inside the cobalamin adenosyltransferase-like (super)family. Multiple structures of the enzyme homologues from different organisms have been solved: 2r6x Lactobacillus Reuteri (48% sequence identity; Z=23); 1rty, Bacillus subtilis (65% sequence identity; Z=27); 1nog, Thermoplasma acidophilum (41% sequence identity; Z=25).
