    Protein Summary

    The TM0487 gene from Thermotoga maritima encodes the NP_228297 protein from the DUF59 family (PF01883). The family also includes PhaH from Pseudomonas putida. PhaH forms a complex with PhaF, PhaG and PhaI, which hydroxylates phenylacetic acid to 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid [Ref]. The members of this family may all be components of ring hydroxylating complexes. TM0487 homolog (67% seq. id.) from Thermosipho africanus (YP_002335513) is annotated as metal-sulfur cluster biosynthetic enzyme. TM0487 genomic neighbor, TM0488, is annotated as HemK protein.

    The NMR structure of NP_228297 protein has been deposited in the PDB database (1UWD). SCOP classifies 1uwd in the alpha+beta class, alpha-lytic protease prodomain-like fold, Fe-S cluster assembly domain-like superfamily, PaaD-like family. DALI top hits are with the TTHB138 protein 3cq2 (Z=12), and the rhamnose reductase related protein 2cu6 (Z=11).
